"The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, second only to oil."
Naiad is GOTS' heritage
The situation on our planet is more and more alarming. The World Health Organisation (WHO) analyzed the air looking for subtle particles in the atmosphere and discovered that 92% of the global population breathes polluted air. That is certainly above the safety thresholds.
The fashion industry definitely had a significant impact on the environment, contributing to unload polluting chemicals and industrial waste into the world. The Danish Fashion Institute (DFI) has highlighted how fashion is actually the second most polluting economic sector after oil business and the biggest threat to clean water after agriculture; In fact, 25% of global chemicals are used for the textile industry.
Given the gravity of the situation, we wanted to make an effort to create clean clothes in the best of ways, but at the same time offer a high-quality product, in accordance with the standards of made in Italy. We did it. This target was achieved by monitoring every single step of the production and putting a huge effort in favor of tradition, but with a view to the future.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is a technical standard for organic textile certification, supported internationally by some of the world's leading organic farming organizations (Organic Trade Association, IVN, Japanese Organic Cotton Association, Soil Association ). Naiad is also a heritage of GOTS fashion. It reflects all the standards: the composition of natural plant fibers or that they have been produced and certified in accordance with the criteria of organic farming, and was carried out in compliance with environmental and social criteria.
